Shared note

Immigrated from Gammersheim GE 1855

Dominick Haas came to this country from Germany. His wife, Sarah Connolly, came from county Monaghan, Ireland. They met while working at the Floyd Estate; he as a groundskeeper, she as a nanny. They married and he later went into business as a truck foreman and fruit grower. Being German, he loved German Food. Sarah learn the style and became quite proficient at it; a talent she passed to her daughter, Margaret, whose German desserts and pastries were fabulous. There is very little information about their son, William, except that he was a bachelor. He died in his thirties, before either of his parents. Their other son, George was also a bachelor. After his parents died, he lived with his sister Maggie and john Heaney until his death.

Other Sister Suzanne act, addicts when it burst but she died soon after. No name is recorded. Once is that I was 17 or 18 she met a fellow named john Smith from Connecticut who worked on a boat. Her family disapproved of him so she was married by a justice of the peace and moved to Groton Connecticut. Later the family accepted john and Susannah was back in good grace.
